For most of us, the biggest consideration when making a purchase is quality.

How and where is the product made? What materials or ingredients are used? Will it serve its intended purpose?

But for the Complement team — sending out thousands of orders each month — what our products are packaged in has become just as much a part of the conversation.

Minimizing plastic has always been a given...

Although it's the cheapest material and standard in the supplement industry, plastics and microplastics are filling our landfills and oceans, and causing all kinds of long-term environmental issues.

So what about glass?

While glass can be significantly more sustainable than plastic and a great option for our liquid nutrients (especially the recyclable glass we've used for the past few years), it's heavy.

And heavy means expending more emissions when shipping from one place to another — something we offset through reforestation efforts, but it's always better to reduce emissions when possible.

So we sat down to troubleshoot a way to both remove plastic entirely from most of our products AND reduce the environmental impact of shipping.

And we have some big news:

Starting now, Complement Essential capsules (along with Complement Protein) will be packaged in 100% compostable and biodegradable pouches.

Oh, and we're continuing to plant just as many trees to make up for where other companies fail to act.

(We're now well over 2,300 trees planted, and counting.)
